DAY 48

San Diego, California
June 1, 2009
Mon 12:04 AM

oh, fantastic great day today. in fact, not enough superlatives exist to describe it. I went on the Simpsons ride at Universal Studios Hollywood. Awesome. Worth the price of the admission. Great great, exceeded my expectations. It replaced the Back to the Future ride, which was a great ride, but The Simpsons ride is so much better. Wonderful. and it was an overcast dreary day, Q says in all of her time living in california she has never seen as many consecutive non-sunny days. it's even rained here like three days in a row! that's doesnt happen in southern california. well, if anything i'm witnessing something rare. the bad weather (by LA standards) scared a lot of people away, so the longest wait we had was like 15 min. it was great.

Also went on the Jurassic Park ride, T2:3D (great show), Shrek 4D, Revenge of the Mummy, and the studio tour and backdraft stage. overall a great day.

And glad to say we had no problem navigating LA, which is a good thing because Q hates LA. apparently this is a common southern california thing, san diegoans hate LA and angelinos hate san diego. whatever, i like both. we got there seamlessly and then met up with my old friend from high school at a fun western restaurant on sunset. a great day in hollywood. it was great to catch up. i got the bbq tri-tips (like bbq brisquet). and we stayed and chatted for quite awhile, finally left around 8:30 then we got back on the highway (or freeway as it's called here, call it a highway and you instantly give away your midwestern-ness), and had no problem getting back to san diego. and not a touch of traffic! 101 South to Interstate 5 South, and back in PB. took us exactly two hours. isn't it amazing how so many places are exactly two hours away? from my house in appleton to my apartment in milwaukee- two hours. from appleton to wausau to visit family- two hours. from san diego to los angeles- two hours (given no traffic). incredible.

i think this might have been my best day here so far. Even Q had a good time in LA. Have I mentioned I love Southern California?
