dear me, i almost forgot to blog tonight... great, now i missed blogging on May Day. oh well. i'm not really in the mood right now, i have to get up in six hours to go back to work. and i got home from work less than two hours ago. great. not only that, but i go to work tomorrow morning, then back to the apartment, then back to work. ahhh, i know i know, no talking about work, its just frustrating because it appears i am the only one able to close on weekends. not that i'm complaining (i guess i am) but, if only i could have one opening shift on weekends. just one, that's all i ask. i really do like my job a lot, but it sucks when you work closing shift thursday, closing shift friday, closing shift saturday (with a mandatory morning meeting), and sunday (all day shift). if just one of those shifts could be an opening shift i'd be happy. i'll admit, i have almost no semblance of a social life (especially living in milwaukee), but on days i close i accomplish nothing. nothing. you sleep in, sit around waiting to go to work in the afternoon... there's no point in starting anything during the day cause you know you won't finish it. you just bide your time before you go to work. i like the people i work with, and i know nobody likes closing, and i really don't mind that much, i just would like to open once in awhile. just once in awhile, i don't need to all the time. just maybe, one shift a week? is that too much to ask?
ahh, so much i wanted to talk about today. i got approved for graduation (finally). so nice of uwm to alert me a whole two weeks before the actual graduation ceremony. which i won't be attending, that's another blog post, i don't have time to justify myself here.
apparently a crazy guy drove a car into a bus carrying dutch royals... cause you know those dutch, they're such tyrants! i heard them talking about it on the radio, and they were getting all their facts wrong about european royals. i should know, i'm an expert on this subject. and video games, they were getting lots of stuff about video games wrong. it's so enraging when you hear people on the radio or tv making inaccurate comments regarding subjects that you see yourself as an expert in. european royals and video games, i'd consider myself at expert level knowlege in both these areas. at least british royals. but i am knowladgable enough to know that the greek monarchy has been abolished... one of the things they kept getting wrong this morning. i'll try to comment on this stuff tomorrow, i came up with a lot of witty comments for both these items.
that's what my days have become now, me examining my day from an outside perspective saying to myself... hmm, how can i describe this in my blog later that will make it both poignant and funny? what have i become? i need to stop this, only that which is important enough for me to remember into the late evening is worthy to be typed down. i should make a note of this... a note to myself to stop making notes of everything potentially worth mentioning in my blog that happens to me in the span of 24 hours. this blog. big s blog. what is it doing to me?
tomorrow is a big sports day. caps play at noon (i think) against the penguins. first game in the series. Go Caps! so, there's that, game seven for the bulls-celtics (go bulls!). the kentucky derby, which i watch every year. I'm gonna pick Hold Me Back. they keep saying that's a good upset pick. i'm not gonna just go with the horse with the best odds, that's no fun. i love watching the derby, i'm gonna do my best to schedule my break tomorrow to coincide with the post time. i'm not placing any actual bets, although i have been to a few OTBs and I have wagered on dogs and horses in the past. i just need to place some wagers on jai alai and those horse races with the carts... is it called chariot racing? i don't think so. i don't know, those are the four things you always see at an otb, dogs, horsies, horsies with carts, and jai alai. jai alai seems pretty cool if you ask me, i mean, that ball travels faster than in any other sport, it can kill people! and yet, a badass sport like that only exists so people can bet on it... how weird is that? i mean, i know betting on football is really big in the US, but take it away and the sport isn't going to disappear. take wagering away from jai alai and i think the sport falls off the face of the earth immediately. my parents have gone to a jai alai game before, and i have the very old, worn shirt to prove it. too bad its a size xl, too big for even me to wear. it looks like one of those shirts people wear now that try to look vintage but really aren't, but mine really is! you know those shirts, they all follow the same format... they usually mention some obscure sport (like field hockey, or something nobody actually plays) and say "championship 1972" something like that. and sometimes it'll list an exotic location where said 'championship' was allegedly held. like costa rica or something along those lines.
oh yeah, and the pacquiao/hatton fight is tomorrow. should be good, i mean, pacquiao is going to win, but it should be a decent fight. they're hyping it enough. there are only one or two boxing fights a year max that i actually care enough about to watch. the last one i did was almost exactly two years ago... de la hoya/mayweather. it was on cinco de mayo during my last week in dc. me and Slurpee went to watch it at some sports bar in northern virginia. we got there so early to get a good seat, and we did, and we each left with a poster... the start of my fight poster collection. and on that day the derby was held too (must always be the first saturday in may). hmm, must be a good weekend for boxing too. hopefully the pub i frequent is showing the bout (hatton is british, so it would be appropriate, although, i'd definitely be rooting for pacquiao). mayweather sr. is hatton's trainer, he keeps saying pacquiao is too small. yeah, that's what they said about the pacquiao/de la hoya fight too. pacquiao made beating oscar look easy. the guy's too quick, i don't care how powerful hatton is, he won't be paquiao, no way. pacquiao is easily the best boxer in the world right now, easily. and tomorrow, he'll win his sixth world championship in a different weight class. he currently has won five world championships, all in different weight classes. but boxing just has too many, it needs to streamline. i hope i watch it, but i'm not dropping 50 bucks on ppv to watch, no way. hopefully the pub, hopefully. regardless, its gonna be the pac-man all the way over the hitman.
well, for not being in the mood to blog i think i came up with a pretty decent post, and in only about half an hour! half my normal time, not bad at all.
salbrent
