Detroit, Michigan

Fri 4:11 PM (Eastern Standard Time)
Made it to Detroit, couldn’t get on an earlier flight to Minneapolis, but it worked out ok, the flight I wanted to get on to Minneapolis got delayed by two hours anyway. And the extra time gave me a chance to put more songs on my walkman… added some red hot chili peppers, nirvana, pearl jam and stone temple pilots… and collective soul, I saw them in concert with Q and we went backstage. It was sweet.
Right now I’m typing this entry on Microsoft word, and it’s really really weird. I’m not paying to use the internet here, so I’m writing this now and I’ll input it later. I’ll have been in three states today and three time zones. I love how at the airport in Detroit they make routine announcements reminding people that they’re in the Eastern time zone. It’s cool, I kept forgetting, that means my flight isn’t as long as I thought, and my layover isn’t as long either. It still sucks that I get into san diego around 10 pm, and that’s with the time difference.
I feel bad for my laptop right now, outlets are a hot commodity here at the Detroit-fort wayne county airport and so I’m running on battery power. I think I’m gonna watch the dark knight after writing this.
And I just gotta say, I’m the expert when it comes to packing, seriously. I fit 13 pairs of underwear and socks, three bras, six tank tops, 13 t-shirts, one polo shirt, one nice shirt, two pairs of jeans, one pair of black pants, two boardshorts, two jackets, one zippy hood, three hats, my toiletry bag, and some cheese all in my rolly bag. And it’s not even heavy or that jam full. I love my rolly bag, it is so beatup, It’s been everywhere. I was gonna take my new shiny light blue one, but I didn’t think it could hold as much. This atlantic bag can withstand anything. And, because my first flight was on a little plane, I had to gate check my rolly bag… my backpack with my laptop, camera, and all my other portable electronics does not leave me. Anyway, I don’t mind gate checking, you get your bag back as soon as you land. And a lesson in flying, don’t take a black bag. Everyone has black luggage, and the cart with all the gate-checked bags was turned around and all you could see was the wheels, a lot of little black wheels. And my ugly (I say ugly with the utmost affection and respect for my bag) brown roller was so easy to spot. Everyone just stood there staring and at first I couldn’t figure out why, my focus was fixed on my bag… but every bag was black. It was hilarious. I just waltzed up, grabbed my bag, and headed out. It would’ve been funny if I had brought my little blue bag, that would’ve stood out like a sore thumb. I’m watching cnn right now waiting in the terminal… I think nancy grace has to rename her show The Casey Anthony variety sideshow half hour (I think her show’s a half hour) starring Nancy Grace. What a joke of a host she is.
Anyway, back to the flight. It went well, and I ran into an acquantaince at the Appleton airport who was flying to Germany, so it was nice to have someone to talk to. And the man sitting next to me was very nice and going to Baltimore, so we chatted on the short flight to Detroit, nice to have someone to talk to and not just listen to the walkman.
Man, I have just been breaking out in hives like crazy lately… at least these (mostly) haven’t been too itchy. I hate this, it’s some autoimmune disorder- I’m allergic to myself. Great, my body is duking it out with some other part of my body and my skin pays the price. Wonderful.
Hmmm, I feel like there’s more I wanted to say… that’s it for now, much more excitement when I get to San Diego!!!!!! Hurray… Graduation present to myself!
